CTHA has increased visitation 150% since 2012 through aggressive multi-media marketing. The primary sources of our funding are Travel Nevada, the Elko Recreation Board, and the Elko Convention and Visitors Authority.

Marketing the California Trail Interpretive Center is easy from the standpoint of having a world class facility with top-notch and varied programs and exhibits.  It is slightly harder to apply for and receive funds to promote visitation to the Center and to Elko.  Through the wonderful support of TravelNevada and the Elko County Recreation Board grants, CTHA has marketed the California Trail Interpretive Center via social, electronic and print media.

In 2019, CTHA funded a formal marketing study with TravelNevada support to evaluate our marketing efforts.  With the affirmation that our multimedia approach was on target, and some suggested tweaks, CTHA continues to promote visitation to the California Trail Interpretive Center and to the Elko area generally.
