For some years, books, diaries, professional journals, and other information about the California Trail, Hastings Cutoff and related topics have been donated to or purchased for the California Trail Interpretive Center. Due to space and staffing constraints these materials have not been available to the public. With the facilitation efforts of CTHA in partnership with the Elko District Bureau of Land Management, the Southern Nevada Conservancy, and the CA-NV Chapter of OCTA, most of these materials have been relocated to Great Basin College in Elko. The materials, known as the Western Emigrant Trails Collection will remain in the ownership of the California Trail Interpretive Center but will be managed through a Memorandum of Understanding between the above parties.
